Error description

  • On Domino 8.5 FP1, iNotes save function for a 4 MB attachment
    finishes in less than 2 seconds. The accumulated CPU time for
    the HTTP task is increased by less than 1 CPU second.

    After upgrading to Domino 8.5.1, this same iNotes save function
    of the 4MB attachment finishes in 32 seconds. The accumulated
    CPU time for HTTP task is increased by 24 CPU seconds. During
    this time, HTTP task CPU usage is very high, e.g., above 80%
    utilization.

    This Issue is specific to DAOS enabled mailfiles. Even with the
    DAOS enabled mailfile it only happens in iNotes, not in notes
    client, and only if the NLO files are encrypted (DAOS default),
    and only if the iNotes template (StdR85Mail 8.5.1 (09/26/2009))
    is accessed via a web browser.

Local fix

  • The work-around for this customer was to disable encryption by
    adding the following parameter to the Server notes.ini file:
    DAOS_ENCRYPT_NLO=0
