APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • For Ubuntu 18 base Developer Portal after add a new disk and
    reboot it does not automatically added to the root partition.
    
    syslog shows the following error:
    DATE HH:MM:SS hostname apim_dcluster[1546]: Extending / by XXG
    onto /dev/sdb
    DATE HH:MM:SS hostname apim_dcluster[1546]: File descriptor 63
    (pipe:[24068]) leaked on pvcreate invocation. Parent PID 1546:
    /bin/bash
    DATE HH:MM:SS hostname apim_dcluster[1546]:   Can't initialize
    physical volume "/dev/sdb" of volume group "ubuntu-vg" without
    -ff
    DATE HH:MM:SS hostname apim_dcluster[1546]:   /dev/sdb: physical
    volume not initialized.
    

Local fix

  • Enter the following command:
    sudo lvextend /dev/ubuntu-vg/ubuntu-lv -l +100%FREE
    sudo resize2fs /dev/ubuntu-vg/ubuntu-lv
    

Problem summary

  • <span style="background-color:rgb(255, 255, 255)">After deploy
    IBM API Connect Developer Portal to 5.0.8.12iFix4, user added a
    new disk but still received the message "WARNING: The virtual
    disk size has not been increased from the default of 30GB. This
    is only sufficient for PoC and testing purposes. Please refer to
    the Knowledge Center for instructions on increasing the virtual
    disk size."
    
    User has added a disk to the VM but it did not get added into
    the root file system automatically.</span>
    

Problem conclusion

  • <span style="font-size:12px">This issue is fixed in IBM API
    Connect <span style="background-color:rgb(255, 255,
    255)">Developer </span>Portal v5.0.8.13. As a workaround user
    can enter <span style="background-color:rgb(255, 255,
    255);color:rgb(22, 22, 22);font-family:ibm plex sans,helvetica
    neue,arial,sans-serif">the following commands to extend the root
    file system onto the new disk.</span></span>
    
    <span style="background-color:rgb(255, 255, 255)">sudo lvextend
    /dev/ubuntu-vg/ubuntu-lv -l +100%FREE</span>
    <span style="background-color:rgb(255, 255, 255)">sudo resize2fs
    /dev/ubuntu-vg/ubuntu-lv</span>
