APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • An issue exists in the portal DB pod where in rare circumstances
    the expire_gcache_files process may not run, resulting in large
    files with names like gcache.page.0000000 being created and not
    being cleaned up. Users experiencing this issue may see one of
    the portal DB pods is using more space than the others.
    

Local fix

  • Exec into the affected db pod, db container and run
    expire_gcache_files
    For example:
    kubectl exec -it  -c db -- bash
    expire_gcache_files
    

Problem summary

  • Portal DB not cleaning gcache page files in some circumstances.
    

Problem conclusion

  • Fix targeted at release 2018.4.1.16, 10.0.2.0, 10.0.1.3
