Error description
In IBM Business Process Manager (BPM) V8.5.7 CF 2016.12 you cannot claim a task again if the task is already assigned to the same user. PRODUCTS AFFECTED IBM BPM Advanced IBM BPM Standard IBM BPM Express
Local fix
Change the case of the user name in LDAP so that it matches the case being entered.
Problem summary
Before assigning the task again, IBM BPM checks for the ownership of a task by user name, which involves comparing the case style instead of the user ID. As a result, IBM BPM throws an error if the user name in the database is saved in a different case compared to the user name in the http request or LDAP system.
Problem conclusion
A fix will be included in IBM BPM V8.5.7 cumulative fix 2017.03 that makes the Assign ToMe REST API case insensitive.
