Problem summary
When saving a workspace in the Tivoli Enterprise Portal, sometimes the save does not work when the workslpace contains a pane with a topology view. If a Tivoli Enterprise Portal workspace contains a topology view as well as multiple other views, sometimes the save does not work. The circumstances under which this problem was seen were as follows: - Create a new workspace based on the EIB Change log. - Save the new workspace. - Split the EIB change log pane. - Drop a topology view (TMS infrastructure) on top of one of the panes and change it to a table view. - Split the remaining EIB change log pane. - Bring up the properties of one of the EIB change log panes and change the query to Windows system offline. At this point if you save the workspace, the save will not work. It you click on a different workspace, the same workspace will stay displayed until the save is cancelled or the topology view is deleted.
Problem conclusion
Found that an exception was being thrown based on a null pointer which was causing some processing to be skipped. Added some checking to make sure the correct path was taken. The fix for this APAR is contained in the following maintenance packages: | fix pack | 6.2.2-TIV-ITM-FP0003
