Error description

  • Private Desktop not allowing spaces in Userinit

    Description:
In the Private Desktop, if the HKEY_LOCA_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \
    Microsoft
    \ Windows NT\ CurrentVersion \ Winlogon : Userinit

The customer has an app called Soft Grid which adds to that
    registry
    value so that it becomes:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe,"C:\Program
    Files\Softricity\SoftGrid
    for Windows Desktops\sftdcc.exe"

The problem is that with Private Desktop we are not reading this
    value
    correctly:
    [2009-04-29 15:07:29:909], userinit.exe-EDM_DESKTOP_1, 552, 3,
EdmApiHook:DllMain, The DLL is loaded as a result of LoadLibrary
    call.
    Now invoke HookAPICalls,
    [2009-04-29 15:07:29:924], userinit.exe-EDM_DESKTOP_1, 552, 3,
    EdmApiHook:HookCreateProcess, Successfully setup hooks.

GinaMessageBox, [MSG][Cannot Unlock][Unable to create your
    Windows
desktop. Contact your Helpdesk for assistance.],

As you can see it shows the error message "Unable to create your
    Windows
    desktop."

This happens when the user starts the machine, autologs on and
    TAM ESSO
locks teh machine. User starts 1 session then goes to start a
    second
session. Then they see the error message.

    Steps to Duplicate:
1.) on a private desktop machine add to the
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
    NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon: Userinit
    (ex. C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe)

    2.) Restart the machine

3.) Start 2 sessions of the private desktop

Desired Behavior: The customer would like to use the Soft Grid
    software
(which requires the userinit registry value) with the Private
    Desktop
    configuration.

    Environment: TAM ESSO v8.0.1

    Workaround: None
