IV93214: IN SPP CODE IMPROVE ERROR HANDLING FOR TRAVERSAL PHASE OF RMDISK

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Customer was removing hdisks with the
  pv -remove -pv <hdisk_name>
  command. He was successfull with most hdisks but with one
  hdisk
  the command did not return and hung.
  He was not able to perform any more removes as the
  command kept
  hanging.
  
  Code needs to be changed in error path to avoid hang so
  customer
  can continue work and we can proceed with debugging
  problem
  

Local fix

• No immediate workaround for this problem without the help
  of
  support.
  

Problem summary

• The rmdisk command hangs. Trace output shows
  shrinkRepairLeaks() returns non-zero.
  

Problem conclusion

• If blocks above HWM are encountered after traversal of blocks
  for rmdisk command the command will return a failure.
