Error description
Hostname variable does not resolve correctly in communication templates PROBLEM: User is reporting that the URL is resolving correctly for communications sent via Workflow but not for those through the UI. You have defined mxe.hostname in the Maximo system properties as follows for example: max01.myserver.com You have the hostname referenced in the communication template as follows: You are receiving this message because Item Add/Change request :ITEMNUM needs your review and/or approval in Maximo. Please log into eMax using the following link and go to the Inbox/Assignments section of your Start Center to locate the Item Add/Change request. http://:HOSTNAME/ui/login When a communication is sent via email the :hostname (irrespective of case) variable does not resolve and remains as is in the communication template. This used to previously work in earlier fix levels for 7.6 and works in Maximo 7.5, it is unclear at which 7.6 fix level this stopped working. When 'create communication' is selected, the :hostname variable resolves correctly however when a communication template is selected, the resolved variable resolves back to the original :hostname variable. When the communication is sent, the email contains the unresolved variable. You try :&HOSTNAME& instead of just :HOSTNAME however it does not work too. There was an APAR on this (APAR IV83986), however customers are already in 7.6.0.5 and has the problem reported above, so the APAR does not seem to be related. PERFORMANCE ISSUE: No STEPS TO REPRODUCE: Log into Maximo as maxadmin Create a communication template Make sure the communication template is active for WORKORDER object and it has : HOSTNAME in the message body or subject. Go to Work Order Tracking app Search for any workoder and go to Select Action > Create > Communication On the Communication use the template you created Enter a valid email address and send. You will get an email where the :HOSTNAME variable is not resolved. CURRENT ERRONEOUS RESULT: :HOSTNAME variable is not resolved. EXPECTED RESULT: :HOSTNAME variable is resolved.
