Error description
CICS Configuration Manager plugin for the CICS Explorer sends requests to the server to retrieve the last migration scheme used, when right-clicking a change package in order to build the popup menu. However, this occurs on the main thread, which is a design flaw in CM that was undetected until now due to the introduction of dynamic menus. Due to an eclipse bug, when building the dynamic popup menu, multiple refreshes occur and thus multiple IO requests are sent on the main thread, causing the application to hang. See https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=467000.
Local fix
Problem summary
The CICS Configuration Manager plug-in hangs when the user right-mouse clicks on a package in CM Change Packages view. This is due to IO being performed on the display thread.
Problem conclusion
The IO being performed was unecessary as the required data was available locally. The IO request has been removed. This fix will be made available in Version 5.3.0.1 of the CICS Configuration Manager plug-in for CICS Explorer. For installation instructions please see: Ordering maintenance for the IBM Explorer for z/OS, IBM CICS Explorer and CICS Explorer plug-ins http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21380083
