APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • If multiple applications tries to join the same multicast
group, some of the applications may fail to join with
ENOBUFS for setsockopt() system call. For example,
.
"WARNING: could not IP_ADD_MEMBERSHIP on
multicast receive socket: (74) There is not enough
buffer space for the requested socket operation."

Problem summary

  • If multiple applications tries to join the same multicast
group, some of the applications may fail to join with
ENOBUFS for setsockopt() system call. For example,
"WARNING: could not IP_ADD_MEMBERSHIP on
multicast receive socket: (74) There is not enough
buffer space for the requested socket operation."

Problem conclusion

  • The code is fixed so that now while application are trying to
join a multicast group and fails due to the existence of
in progress entry, it will not fail with ENOBUFS.
