Problem summary
A crash in JIT compiled Java code can happen if a global register dependency is missing, causing the compiler to not preserve a value which is later needed, resulting it in being overwritten. The problem was observed to have happened shortly after a STOC instruction which is infrequently generated on the z Systems platform.
Problem conclusion
The JIT compiler has been updated to avoid the problem by disabling the use of the STOC instructions. . This APAR will be fixed in the following Java Releases: 6 R1 SR8 FP15 (6.1.8.15) 7 SR9 FP20 (7.0.9.20) . Contact your IBM Product's Service Team for these Service Refreshes and Fix Packs.
