APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Error Message: N/A
    .
    Stack Trace: N/A
    .

Local fix

  • The number of garbage collector threads can be manually set by
the user using the "-Xgcthreads" option. For example, to set the
number of garbage collector threads to 3 use "-Xgcthreads3"

Problem summary

  • On systems with multiple NUMA nodes, the number of garbage
collector threads (reported as "gcthreads" in the verbosegc
output) may be set according to the processor count of a single
node rather than the whole system.

Problem conclusion

  • The number of garbage collector threads is now set to the number
of available processors of the system.
