Error description
Some commands may hang, and paths fail after the following sequence of errors is seen in the AIX error log: FCA_ERR2 with sense data showing error 0x30 in the first line of sense data SENSE DATA 0000 0011 0000 0030 .... followed by FCA_ERR2 with sense data showing error 0x51 in the first line of sense data SENSE DATA 0000 0011 0000 0051 .... FCA_ERR6 with sense data showing error 0xC4 in the first line of sense data SENSE DATA 0000 0011 0000 00C4 .... The problem applies to physical adapters in both standalone AIX hosts and to VIO servers. If the physical adapter is mapped to virtual adapters on an NPIV client, the NPIV client will lose access to the paths on this adapter.
