Error description
When trying to save the MQTT channel configuration of a WebSphere MQ 7.1 queue manager using dmpmqcfg command no objects will be found. For example issuing the following from a command line: dmpmqcfg -m queuemanagername -t channel -n * does not list any MQTT channels. Although the InfoCenter states: "-t Choose a single type of object for which to export. - channel or chl: A channel (including MQTT channel type) " However the command "dis chl(*) chltype(MQTT)" does list all the MQTT channels.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** USERS AFFECTED: Users of the MQXR functionality who would like to back up the administrative definitions of their MQTT channels. Platforms affected: Windows, Solaris x86-64, Solaris SPARC, Linux on zSeries, Linux on x86, Linux on x86-64, Linux on S390, Linux on Power, IBM iSeries, HP-UX OpenVMS, HP-UX Itanium, HP-UX PA-RISC, AIX **************************************************************** PROBLEM SUMMARY: The dmpmqcfg utility makes a request for channels of all types when the -t channels or -t all options are used. MQTT channels were not being returned, despite MQCHT_MQTT being a valid channel type.
Problem conclusion
The code was changed to add a new type to the dmpmqcfg command. The -t mqttchl type will cause dmpmqcfg to return channels of type MQCHT_MQTT if the MQXR service is active. As well as a code change, the following documentation updates are made as part of this APAR: (These documentation changes will be made for WebSphere MQ v7.1 and v7.5) The documentation at http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/wmqv7/v7r1/topic/com.ibm.mq.do c/fa22720_.htm is updated to include the new -t mqttchl object type: Under "Purpose": ...Subscriptions that are created by applications using the MQSUB MQI call of type MQSUBTYPE_API are not part of the queue manager configuration, even if durable, and so are not dumped by dmpmqcfg. MQTT channels will only be returned for types -t all and -t mqttchl if the telemetry (MQXR) service is running. For instructions on how to start the telemetry service, see Administering WebSphere MQ Telemetry (links to http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/wmqv7/v7r1/topic/com.ibm.mq.do c/tt40000_.htm) = Add this text +-mqttchl--+ = Add this text to the dmpmqcfg railroad diagram as a new -t option Choose a single type of object for which to export. Possible values are: Value Dscription = Correct this to say "Description" all All object types ... channel or chl A channel (including MQTT channel type) = Remove this text ... lstr or listener A listener mqttchl An MQTT channel = Add this text namelist or nl A namelist The documentation will also be changed in order to remove mention of MQCHT_ALL returning channels of MQCHT_MQTT. At http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/wmqv7/v7r1/topic/com.ibm.mq.do c/pc12150_.htm?resultof=%22%4d%51%43%48%54%5f%4d%51%54%54%22%20 , under ChannelType(MQCFIN), the following should be changed: If this parameter is not present (or if MQCHT_ALL is specified), channels of all types are eligible => If this parameter is not present (or if MQCHT_ALL is specified), channels of all types other than MQCHT_MQTT are eligible Also: MQCHT_ALL All types other than MQCHT_MQTT. --------------------------------------------------------------- The fix is targeted for delivery in the following PTFs: Version Maintenance Level v7.1 7.1.0.6 v7.5 7.5.0.4 The latest available maintenance can be obtained from 'WebSphere MQ Recommended Fixes' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006037 If the maintenance level is not yet available information on its planned availability can be found in 'WebSphere MQ Planned Maintenance Release Dates' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006309 ---------------------------------------------------------------
