Problem summary
In the portal client Situation Editor, the Action execution options are reset to default values if the System Command is empty when the Apply button is clicked. The portal client Situation Editor Action tab provides for the optional specification of an action to invoke when the situation becomes true. Radio buttons indicate which kind of action command is desired and provide options to control its execution. If the command field is blank, no action will be taken and the execution options are irrelevant. Despite this fact, the user can change the options and click Apply even if the command is blank. If this is done while defining a new situation, the definition is saved, the editor is reset to the Formula tab and the Action tab execution options are reset to their default values. The "tacmd viewsit" command displays the changed values even though the portal client does not.
Problem conclusion
The logic was changed to preserve the user's Action execution specifications even if the System Command field is left empty when Apply is clicked. Even with this fix applied, the editor will still reset to the Formula tab the first time the Apply button is clicked while a new situation is being defined. The editor does not change tabs on subsequent Apply button clicks. This tab switching behavior is necessary and not affected by this fix. The fix for this APAR is included in the following maintenance vehicle: | fix pack | 6.2.3-TIV-ITM-FP0005
