Problem summary
When a remote monitoring server goes offline, all connected agents are marked offline causing a large number of offline events to occur. This may cause problems due to the action taken by MS_Offline situations when hundreds or even thousands of events occur.
Problem conclusion
The code has been changed to delay the notification of offline events by twelve minutes. This will give agents connected to the remote monitoring server time to switch to another monitoring server thereby reducing the number of actual offline events. The fix for this APAR is included in the following maintenance vehicle: | fix pack | 6.2.3-TIV-ITM-FP0005 | Note: Search the IBM technical support web site for maintenance package availability.
