Error description

  • When soreceive is called, the 2nd argument is a pointer
to an address which should be filled in with the source
address of the packet.  The symptom is the address is now
filled in with a part of the data from the packet.

One symptom is SNA Enterprise Extender (EE) links fail to
activate.

Local fix

Problem summary


    

  • When a customer uses soreceive( ) in their own kernel extension
to receive UDP data and Source IP address, soreceive() returns
invalid source IP address. This causes UDP communication
failure.  The failure would be seen only in limited AIX
releases.

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • Code is modified to return correct source IP address when
soreceive is called to read the UDP data and source IP address.
