Error description

  • When "ifconfig netmask" is called without IP address
    specified, it
    does not work. For example,
    
    # ifconfig en1 192.168.0.1
    # ifconfig en1 netmask 255.255.248.0
    # ifconfig en1

Local fix

  • Specify IP address with netmask.
    

Problem summary

    * Systems running the 7100-02 Technology Level with the
    * bos.net.tcp.client fileset below the 7.1.2.16 level.
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
    * When command "ifconfig netmask" is used with out specifing
    * IP address to change the netmask, the netmask value of the
    * main IP address wil not be changed.
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:
    * Install APAR IV34235.

Problem conclusion

  • Code modified to handle command "ifconfig  netmask" with no
    IP address specified.
