Error description
In WebSphere MQ 7.0, 7.1 and 7.5, the setmqaut command does not give errors when there is a syntax problem and when it is able to grant successfully at least one of the requested authorities. For example: . setmqaut -m QMGR -t qmgr -g x +inq connect dsp syntax error The setmqaut command completed successfully. . Actually, the first requested authority, +inq (inquire) was the only one to be created. The other tokens had syntax errors and they were not processed. . This has the potential to cause confusion to customers, who may think: the setmqaut command for ... +inq connect ... ... was successful, but when trying to connect to the queue manager, there is an error 2035 indicating MQRC_NOT_AUTHORIZED and further problem determination tasks indicate that there is indeed no authority record for the user/group for the +connect authority.
Local fix
Ensure that there list of authorities have a proper syntax, such as: setmqaut -m QMGR -t qmgr -g x +inq +connect +dsp
