Error description
Customer is migrating from WebSphere MQ V6 to V701 . To stop a queue manager, a script is first executed which stops all the channels and then the queue manager is ended using endmqm -i. In WebSphere MQ V6 this process lasts a few seconds while in WebSphere MQ V701 it takes several minutes. From MQ trace it appears that MQ attempts several times to stop a channel which is already ended.
Local fix
Do not stop the channels before ending the qmgr
Problem summary
**************************************************************** USERS AFFECTED: Users who explicitly stop channels immediately before issuing endmqm may be affected by this problem. Platforms affected: All Distributed (iSeries, all Unix and Windows) **************************************************************** PROBLEM SUMMARY: The code executed during endmqm to stop all channels was not properly checking the liveness of channel processes. This led the code to keep checking liveness of processes that were no longer alive (had ended). That was causing endmqm to take longer than five minutes to complete.
Problem conclusion
The stop all channels code within endmqm was revised to ensure it correctly checked the liveness of channel processes. The revision eliminates the repeated checking of channel process liveness for those channel processes that have ended. This eliminates the 5 minutes (or more) delay in the completion of endmqm. --------------------------------------------------------------- The fix is targeted for delivery in the following PTFs: v7.0 Platform Fix Pack 7.0.1.10 -------- -------------------- Windows 7.0.1.10 AIX 7.0.1.10 HP-UX (PA-RISC) 7.0.1.10 HP-UX (Itanium) 7.0.1.10 Solaris (SPARC) 7.0.1.10 Solaris (x86-64) 7.0.1.10 iSeries 7.0.1.10 Linux (x86) 7.0.1.10 Linux (x86-64) 7.0.1.10 Linux (zSeries) 7.0.1.10 Linux (Power) 7.0.1.10 v7.1 Platform Fix Pack 7.1.0.2 -------- -------------------- Windows 7.1.0.2 AIX 7.1.0.2 HP-UX (Itanium) 7.1.0.2 Solaris (SPARC) 7.1.0.2 Solaris (x86-64) 7.1.0.2 iSeries 7.1.0.2 Linux (x86) 7.1.0.2 Linux (x86-64) 7.1.0.2 Linux (zSeries) 7.1.0.2 Linux (Power) 7.1.0.2 The latest available maintenance can be obtained from 'WebSphere MQ Recommended Fixes' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006037 If the maintenance level is not yet available information on its planned availability can be found in 'WebSphere MQ Planned Maintenance Release Dates' http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006309 ---------------------------------------------------------------
