Error description

• Environment:
  
    This serviceability change applies to all supported platforms.
  
  Problem Description:
    The Tivoli Firewall toolkit (aka the KDE Gateway) default
    configuration values target minimum resource consumption.
    These default values should target maximum performance. This
    obviates the need for the customer to 'configure' performance
    where performance is expected.

Local fix

Problem summary

• The monitoring server may lose connectivity with agents
  connecting through a firewall gateway.
  
  
  The Tivoli Firewall toolkit (KDE Gateway) default configuration
  values target minimum resource consumption. Instead, these
  default values should target maximum performance. With these new
  defaults, the KDE Gateway (IBM Tivoli Monitoring firewall
  toolkit) is now tuned to provide maximum performance with all
  the available resources.
  

Problem conclusion

• Default values for minbufs and maxbufs attributes were doubled
  to 128 and 256 respectively. The maxconn attribute now defaults
  to 2041, nearly eight times the original published default. This
  is a performance improvement intended to mitigate the
  connectivity issues.

Temporary fix

• Explicitly code the gateway zone parameters maxcon, minbufs
  and maxbufs attributes.
