Error description
ITNM 3.8 FP6 Need to have a fix to provide an option in the model process to immediately delete any duplicate entities which SNMP access is newly acquired for a device that did previously have access. The previous behaviour had been to retain these devices until they lingered out.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: * * Users with network devices that are discovered before ITNM * * has the correct SNMP credentials to access them may see this * * problem. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: * * When ITNM discovers a network device with multipe IP * * addresses and to which it does not have SNMP access there is * * no way to determein that all the IP addresses are assosiated * * with a single device. Therefore multiple entities are * * created in the topology model, one for each IP address. If * * ITNM should then later gain SNMP access to that device it * * becomes possible to identify and delete those duplicate * * entities. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * * | fix pack | 3.9.0-ITNMIP-FP0002 * * * * End of Support has been announced for 3.8. Customer should * * upgrade to 3.9 or above release. * * http://www-01.ibm.com/common/ssi/cgi-bin/ssialias?subtype=ca * * &infotype=an&appname=iSource&supplier=897&letternum=ENUS914- * * 056#h2-wprodx * ****************************************************************
Problem conclusion
Model will now do a search for any devices for which SNMP access was newly acquired in this discovery If that new device has multiple IP addresses then search for lingering entities with those IP addresses If the DeleteRenamedDevices configuration option has been enabled then delete the duplicates.
