Error description
If using mirrorvg/unmirrorvg to migrate rootvg from one disk to another, or using unmirrorvg to remove the disks to which ipldevice is linked to replace a failing drive, ipldevice is not relinked to the remaining disk. If the old device is removed using rmdev -dl <hdisk> further commands using bootinfo like mkszfile will fail with : # /usr/bin/mkszfile 0301-150 bosboot: Invalid or no boot device specified! usage: bosboot .... A boot in that case would fail on led 554.
Local fix
relink ipldevice to the new boot disk after unmirrorvg. using : ln /dev/r<hdiskXX> /dev/ipldevice for example : ln /dev/rhdisk1 /dev/ipldevice
Problem summary
If unmirrorvg removes the bootlv from the previously booted hdisk (which /dev/ipldevice is linked to), then bosboot -ad /dev/ipldevice can write the boot image to the wrong disk, or fail if that disk has been removed. This can lead to issues during a reboot if not corrected.
Problem conclusion
Add code to unmirrorvg to detect this situation and remake /dev/ipldevice to point to a valid boot disk still in the boot lv.
