Error description
Configuration profile activation fails after using classification system editor of WebUI
Local fix
Problem summary
After having used the web UI classification editor, the next time you attempt to activate a WSRR configuration profile you might receive the following exception: com.ibm.serviceregistry.exception.admin.ConstraintException: GSR0115E: The value "" for parameter "id" is too short. The length must be in the range 1 to 255 characters. at com.ibm.serviceregistry.admin.constraint.StringConstraint.valida te(StringConstraint.java:136) at com.ibm.serviceregistry.admin.constraint.IdConstraint.validate(I dConstraint.java:77) at com.ibm.serviceregistry.admin.constraint.CollectionConstraint.va lidate(CollectionConstraint.java:146) at com.ibm.sr.management.validation.OntologyManagementValidator.del eteSystems(OntologyManagementValidator.java:236) at com.ibm.sr.management.impl.OntologyAdminManagerImpl.deleteSystem sDelegate(OntologyAdminManagerImpl.java:884) at com.ibm.sr.management.impl.OntologyAdminManagerImpl.deleteSystem s(OntologyAdminManagerImpl.java:845) at com.ibm.sr.management.impl.ProfileManagerImpl.clearOntologies(Pr ofileManagerImpl.java:1428) at com.ibm.sr.management.impl.ProfileManagerImpl.activateConfigurat ionProfileDelegate(ProfileManagerImpl.java:853) at com.ibm.sr.management.impl.ProfileManagerImpl.activateConfigurat ionProfile(ProfileManagerImpl.java:734) at com.ibm.serviceregistry.ServiceRegistryAdminBean.activateConfigu rationProfile(ServiceRegistryAdminBean.java:1039) at com.ibm.serviceregistry.EJSLocalStatelessServiceRegistryAdmin_74 da41e1.activateConfigurationProfile(EJSLocalStatelessServiceRegi stryAdmin_74da41e1.java:1480) at com.ibm.sr.ui.delegate.AdminDelegate.activateProfile(AdminDelega te.java:1411) at com.ibm.sr.ui.mediators.ConfigurationItemMediator.activateProfil e(ConfigurationItemMediator.java:1010) at com.ibm.sr.ui.actions.CollectionButtonAction.activateProfile(Col lectionButtonAction.java:3843) The web UI classification system editor might also stop displaying correctly with further errors.
Problem conclusion
If you have attempted to create a classification system without a system URI value, although an error is given, the classification is still created in the database with a system URI value of empty string (""). This invalid URI value then prevents the web UI classification editor and configuration profile activation from working correctly. For example, when you attempt to activate a new configuration profile, the invalid system URI fails validation when attempting to clear the existing configuration resulting in the given exception. Additional checking has now been added to the code to ensure that an invalid classification system URI is prevented from being stored in the database. This fix is targeted for inclusion in fix pack 1 for WSRR v7.5.
