APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The endmqm command stops all queue manager processes except the
The dspmq server processes are terminated when its keepalive
timeout expires, regardless of whether the queue manager was
    stopped previously.
Maintenance work can be hindered by such long-running dspmq
    server processes.
A dspmq server process remains active for 5 minutes, regardless
of whether the queue manager is running or not.

Local fix

  • dspmq server processes can be stopped manually.

Problem summary

  • The dspmq server processes stay alive for a while for reuse to
prevent process starts when dspmq is called very often. This can
    happen in various maintenance scenarios.

Problem conclusion

  • The dspmq server has been changed to stay alive for 5 seconds
    after start by default.
A longer stay alive time can be configured but it can't be
    defined less than 5 seconds.
