IT45345: AFTER A FILE RECALL ON NFTS FILESYSTEM THE TIMESTAMP CHANGED

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When a file is recalled by IBM Spectrum Protect HSM for Windows
  on Windows Server 2019 and later, the file modification time is
  updated by the Windows NTFS file system.
  IBM Spectrum Protect HSM for Windows does not restore the file
  modification time.
  The problem occurs only on Windows Server 2019 and later Windows
  server versions, and only on NTFS file systems.
  ReFS file systems work as desired.

Problem conclusion

• The HSM for Windows file system filter driver detects the file
  times of the stub file before it starts file content data
  restoration. After the file content was completely restored, and
  before the file is released to the recalling application the
  file modification time of the file is being restored from
  detected file times.
