Error description

  • Below error messages are kept showing up in VADP log no matter
    backups run or not:

    c.c.vmdkbackup.domain.VmdkBackupSystem   : Failed to get
    physical memory size
    
    java.lang.NoSuchMethodException: com.ibm.lang.management.inter
    nal.UnixExtendedOperatingSystem.getTotalPhysicalMemorySize()
    
    It has no impact on backup jobs, instead, just is manifesting
    in the vadp.log and /var/log/messages log files.
    
    Versions affected: v10.1.14.* and v10.1.15.*

Problem conclusion

  • The VADP code was not able to resolve the physical memory size
    at runtime due to java changes in VADP. This issue was resolved
    by making appropriate code changes to work at runtime.
