APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Using the IBM Spectrum Protect Web Client it is possible to
    create multiple tasks.
    
    Under the following circumstances, creating multiple tasks can
    leave tasks in status "Waiting":
    1. The tasks are long-running (at least 30 minutes).
    2. The tasks are not created all at once but during multiple
      sessions using the IBM Spectrum Protect Web Client.  A new
      login into the IBM Spectrum Protect Web client is performed.
      The first task is created and a logout is done.  A new login
      into the IBM
      Spectrum Protect Web Client is performed and the next task is
      created before the first tasks completes.
    
    IBM Spectrum Protect Versions Affected:
    IBM Spectrum Protect Backup-Archive Client 8.1.7 and later on
    all supported platforms
    

Local fix

  • Start one task at a time or login into the IBM Spectrum Protect
    Web Client and create all required tasks at once

Problem conclusion

  • The timeout timer in the IBM Spectrum Protect backup-archive
    client web client will cause the session of waiting job timeout
    and will stay in waiting state. Stop the timeout timer for the
    waiting job will fix this problem.
