Error description

  • The IBM MQ Replicated Data Queue Manager (RDQM) component
includes a utility called "modver" which can be used to
determine the appropriate kernel module for the current kernel.

This APAR delivers some modifications to this utility.

    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
    .

Problem conclusion

  • New optional parameters have been added to the modver utility.
The new parameters allow a kernel level other than the current
kernel to be checked. A minimum MQ level is optionally reported.

    The usage description is:

    modver [ -?|-h | ( [-m|-M] [-v] [kernelLevel] ) ]
-?|-h : Show usage text and exit
-m : Print the minimum IBM MQ maintenance level
compatible with the appropriate kernel module kernel level
-M : Only print the minimum compatible IBM MQ maintenance
level, do not print the kernel module
        -v : Print verbose output
kernelLevel A RHEL kernel level to test. If omitted the
currently running kernel level returned by 'uname -a' is used

This APAR additionally introduces the modver utility for future
IBM MQ 9.1 maintenance releases and the associated IBM MQ 9.1
    kernel module download package.
