Error description

  • When running the 'DISPLAY AUTHINFO' command to view the
'LDAPPWD' parameter through an MQSC session, certain password
character combinations can cause the display of the AUTHINFO
object to show LDAPPWD as blank.
For example, it may display as:

    LDAPPWD( )

This would only be expected if the password was not set,
however, it may also happen even if a password is set.

If the password is set, then it is expected that the LDAPPWD
parameter would remain obfuscated and display as a series of '*'
    characters:

       LDAPPWD(********************************)

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
Users of MQ who have configured a queue manager with a AUTHINFO
entry to authenticate with LDAP servers

    Platforms affected:
    MultiPlatform

    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
Some combinations of characters used in the LDAPWD field of an
AUTHINFO record resulted in the MQSC interface displaying a
blank field, even though a password has been set.

    For example:

    DISPLAY AUTHINFO(MY.AUTHINFO) LDAPPWD
    AMQ8566I: Display authentication information details.
       AUTHINFO(MY.AUTHINFO) AUTHTYPE(IDPWLDAP)
       LDAPPWD( )

This had no effect on the operation of this AUTHINFO record, and
the authentication to the LDAP server was successful.

Problem conclusion

  • The display of the AUTHINFO record now shows a series of '*'
characters to indicate a password is set for the LDAPPWD field.
