Error description
Under specific conditions, the system logs collection can fail to produce the expected log bundle. It will be either corrupted or incomplete. This can happen on very busy/large environments producing large amounts of log data. When the amount of data to bundle is very large, it takes too long to transfer it and can lead to a connection time out which results in the corrupted/incomplete log bundle. This connection time out is seen when the system logs are generated via the appliance command line with the command : sudo /opt/ECX/tools/logcollect/logcollect The error after several minutes processing will be : raise ChunkedEncodingError(e)ChunkedEncodingError: ('Connection broken: IncompleteRead(15 bytes read)', IncompleteRead(15 bytes read)) IBM Spectrum Protect Plus Versions Affected: IBM Spectrum Protect Plus 10.1.x Additional Keywords: SPP, SPPLUS, TS012144808, "Storage Protect Plus"

Problem conclusion
Large SPP deployments can accumulate a large number of logs, which causes the system log download to fail. This failure occurs because the volume of data to be transferred requires too much time, which terminates the HTTPS connection between SPP and the user's browser (or the system log download command line tool). IBM Spectrum Protect Plus 10.1.15.1 and 10.1.16 introduce a Global Preference ("Download job storage logs only when job is unsuccessful"), which allows a user to configure IBM Spectrum Protect Plus to skip the downloading of storage logs for successfully completed jobs. This reduces the size of the system log collection, making it much more likely that the HTTPS system log download can be completed. Note: Storage logs are often pertinent only for failed jobs (to see what caused the failure), and it is unlikely that the storage logs will be needed for troubleshooting or triaging successfully completed jobs.
