APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • In MQ NonStop 5.3, KeepAlive timeout (ETIMEDOUT) is detected
and RCVR channel is INACTIVE. At that time, it is not listed as
ESTB in SCF LISTOPENS. In MQ NonStop 8.1, MCA does not process
the ETIMEDOUT and does not close the socket, leaving it listed
as ESTB.
TCP keepalive is ignored by channel connection.
Channel is not disconnected when the connection is lost.

Local fix

  • Reduce hartbeat time below keepalive time.

Problem summary

  • Heartbeat timeout is evaluated but keepalive timeout is ignored.

Problem conclusion

  • The product has been changed to factor in keepalive timeout.

Temporary fix

  • Reduce hartbeat time below keepalive time
