Error description

  • When data collector upgrades are deployed to Storage Insights,
the data collector manager (dcm) service performs a check of the
setting that determines the customers preference for automatic
    or manual data collector upgrades.
The default condition for that setting is on and it is up to
the client to set this to off.
When the dcm service detects that a new data collector version
is available, it checks all Storage Insights tenants for their
automatic upgrade setting; it then processes the tenants with
automatic upgrades set to on and does not run upgrades for the
    ones set to off
In an observed case, the check to determine on or off timed
out, which resulted in data collectors with automatic upgrades
set to off to be upgraded automatically as if they were set to
on. This is because the default condition for that permission
is on and when the query timed out, the upgrade process
continued because it was not blocked by the off setting.
