IT42700: ORACLE LOG PURGE ON AIX FAILS

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• IBM Spectrum Protect Plus Oracle Database backup on AIX
  completes successful, but with status partial, if log purge is
  enabled. The backup reports errors are follows:
  
  ERROR  CTGGA4202    [example.server.com] Cannot mount the CIFS
  (SMB) share [None].
  ERROR  CTGGF0065    [example.server.com] Database orc19: Log
  purge failed:
  WARN    CTGGA1971    [example.server.com] Log purge status was
  reported as failed: All databases failed
  ERROR  CTGGA2059    Log purge failed for database orc19:Backup
  failed
  
  Affected versions: IBM Spectrum Protect Plus 10.1.13
  

Local fix

• Disable log purge and run purge manually on the system:
  delete noprompt force archivelog until time 'SYSDATE-10' like
  '<mount point>/<DB name>/%';
