APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When an Instant Restore or Test Restore is active for a
Microsoft SQL database in IBM Spectrum Protect Plus,
the selected backup data located on the vSnap host disk is
reachable to the target Microsoft Windows host via an iSCSI
connection.
If the target Microsoft Windows host is rebooted,
the iSCSI connection to the vSnap disk is not restored as
expected.

Local fix

  • Open the Microsoft iSCSI Initiator interface on the Microsoft
Windows host and disconnect/connect the iSCSI disk to restore
the connection.

Problem conclusion

  • This problem has been fixed so that the restore volume created
by SQL instant restore can be persistent across SQL server
reboot, when the restore job is active.
