APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The following error message is seen on server during mount and
  dismount operations in a VTL library :
  ?	ANR8994W Append-only mode is not supported on tape drive
  xxxxxx.
  The reason is that option CHECKTAPEPOS is set to Yes by default.
  If VTL tape library is used this option should be set to No.
  Without updating the CHECKTAPEPOS setting to NO, the server
  needs to check the capability of the drive and the library for
  doing this option. If this option is updated to NO, the server
  will skip the checking and this ANR8994W will not appear as in
  virtual tape libraries, some drives do not support append-only
  mode.
  
  IBM Spectrum Protect version affected : 8.1.14 on all supported
  platforms.

• Run the following command to set CHECKTAPEPOS to No :

  The server attempted to enable append-Only mode on the tape
  drive. However, the tape drive does not support append-Only
  mode. In virtual tape libraries, some drives do not support
  append-only mode.
