IT41086: AN ORA-01841 ERROR IS REPORTED WHEN UPDATING A TIMESTAMP COLUMN.

• Closed as change to accomodate OEM Vendor's code.

Error description

• The error occurs with the first TIMESTAMP column in a query
  following some form
  of string processing, such as REVERSE or SUBSTR.
  If no string processing is performed in the query then there is
  no error reported from the TIMESTAMP column.
  There is no error reported from TIMETAMP columns that precede
  the string processing in the query.
  

Local fix

• It may be possible to work around this issue by reordering the
  database query so that no TIMESTAMP columns follow the
  string processing.

  PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
  An ORA-01841 error message is returned when a database query
  that performs some form of string processing then
  attempts to also use a TIMESTAMP column. The error occurs with
  the first TIMESTAMP column in a query that follows
  the string processing.
  The full oracle error message is "ORA-01841: (full) year must be
  between -4713 and +9999, and not be 0"
  

Problem conclusion

• An update DataDirect Oracle ODBC driver has been supplied to
  correct the error.
