Error description
When Storage Insights monitoring jobs (probe, performance monitor) fail due to invalid credentials being supplied from Storage Insights to the monitored device, the data collection status column should display ?invalid credentials? and not simply ?failed?. Displaying ?invalid credentials? gives the user an action to take, to correct the failure. Displaying ?failed? gives no such suggested actions to the end-user requiring them to open a support case. Internal logging about the failure shows the following: Apr 29 19:29:10 dcm-57fc478b55-kmpbd dcm info Received Message <UUID_REMOVED> Metadata[tnuuid=<UUID_REMOVED>, dcuuid=<UUID_REMOVED> sysuuid=<UUID_REMOVED>, systype=26, sysnatkey=44:26:<removed>, sysname=null, dcname=<hostname_removed>, dcdir=C/Program Files/IBM_SI_PRO, requuid=<uuid_removed>, sysactrequuid=null, colstatus=ERROR, retcode=24, sysactstatus=null, colstart=1651260540700, processAgentlessServer=false, colend=null, procfin=true, logid=null, logparms=[1000D81FCCBD6C7F], trcmsg=null, coskey=FULL_PROBE/<UUID_REMOVED>/1651260540700/14135.zip, coltype=FULL_PROBE, src=DATA_RECEIVER, optype=null, pers=switch_chassis, sysacttype=null, cache=false, origcoskeys=null] This output refers us to the data collector logs for more details (specifically the data collector?s traceEP_errors_0.log file): 2022-04-29 12:29:04.116-0700 [EP-SubJob: <UUID_REMOVED>] [RestBrocadeSwitch.loginToSwitch] [ERROR] Failed login to switch: <IP_REMOVED> com.ibm.srm.dc.common.api.RestException: Unexpected HTTP status code: 403, message: Forbidden-Invalid credentials or auth-type com.ibm.srm.dc.common.api.RestException: Unexpected HTTP status code: 403, message: Forbidden-Invalid credentials or auth-type ____________________________________________________ The defect is against component: 5608TPCSI Server/Manager build/release: 5.4.x Problem as described by customer: Initial customer impact (low/med/high): med
Local fix
Issuing a "connection test" to the device, changes the data collection, probe, and performance monitor status fields from ?failed? to "Invalid Credentials? which allows the user to take corrective actions. Updating the credentials solves the problem.
