Error description

  • When Storage Insights monitoring jobs (probe, performance
monitor) fail due to invalid credentials being supplied from
Storage Insights to the monitored device, the data collection
status column should display ?invalid credentials? and not
    simply ?failed?.

Displaying ?invalid credentials? gives the user an action to
take, to correct the failure. Displaying ?failed? gives no such
suggested actions to the end-user requiring them to open a
    support case.

Internal logging about the failure shows the following:

Local fix

  • Issuing a "connection test" to the device, changes the data
collection, probe, and performance monitor status fields from
?failed? to "Invalid Credentials? which allows the user to take
corrective actions. Updating the credentials solves the
    problem.
