APAR status

Error description

  • During backup of virtual machines (VMs) with IBM Spectrum
    Protect for Virtual Environments: Data Protection for VMware
    version 8.1.13.x, the following message is displayed in the
    scheduler log or screen output:
     ANS9373E The backup of virtual machine 'VM_Name' stopped
     because the backup operation was not progressing.
    
    The primary signature for this problem is the ANS9373E message.
    However, the following message might, or might not, be logged:
     ANS4174E Full VM backup of VMware Virtual Machine 'vm_name'
     failed with RC=7305 mode=Incremental Forever - Incremental,
     target node name='node_name', data mover node name='node_name'
    
    Depending on unpredictable run-time conditions, the backup
    process might hang or crash.
    If the process crashes, then a crash dump is created. There is
    no specific stack trace that corresponds with this problem, so
    the stack trace can vary from one occurrence to the next.
    
    This problem is due to an incomplete fix for APAR IT37898
    (https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/apar/IT37898).
