Error description

  • The following restriction in the IBM Documentation topic for
    Storage Insights vs Storage Insights Pro is misleading.

    Restriction: *If you have access to IBM Storage Insights but are
    not an IBM Storage Insights Pro subscriber, you must have a
    current warranty or maintenance agreement for an IBM block
    storage system to open tickets and send log packages.
    
    ---
    Even with Storage Insights Pro, the hardware ticket cannot be
    created if the storage does not have a current warranty or
    maintenance agreement.  The failed task displays the following
    message, which is not included in the documentation.
    
    Creating support ticket for system <system>
    The support case was not opened for the device with serial
    number <serial_num>. The license agreement for the device might
    be expired.
    

Local fix

  • Work with your account team to make sure the storage device has
    been registered.
