APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The on-demand backup in IBM Spectrum Protect Plus version
    10.1.9 using the user interface steps :
    'Manage Protection' -> Cloud Management' -> 'Microsoft 365'
    -> 'Create Job' -> 'Ad hoc backup'
    can fails when clicking the 'Run' button with the pop-up
    message :

    The same error is seen if selecting a single resource and
    clicking "Run" button on the inventory screen.
    
    The conditions for this to happen are :
    1. The Microsoft 365 backup SLA exists on IBM Spectrum Protect
       Plus version 10.1.8.2 or earlier
    2. The IBM Spectrum Protect Plus appliance was updated to
       version 10.1.9 or later
    
    Scheduled Backup jobs or jobs m365_<SLAName> started manually
    are not affected.

Local fix

  • Create a new SLA in version 10.1.9 and disable the scheduled
    backups in the original SLA.
    Creating a new SLA will trigger an initial full backup.
    Once the restore points associated to the original SLA are
    expired, delete the old SLA.

Problem conclusion

  • IBM Spectrum Protect Plus ad hoc backup of Microsoft 365 objects
    has been fixed.  Any Microsoft 365 object can be selected and an
    ad hoc backup initiated by either a single selection and click
    of the Run button or using the Ad hoc backup wizard.
