APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • During installation and configuration for a data collector, the
    connection to the Storage Insights endpoint is tested.  If it
    fails to connect, no information is provided about the endpoint
    address it is trying to connect to, making the issue harder to
    resolve.  The following failure points lack that detail.
    
    1.  Running the data collector installation program directly on
    a host may complete but fail to connect.  Additional info should
    be provided.
    2.  Running configureProxy.bat also indicates that it failed to
    connect but does not specify the endpoint address either.
    3.  The Data Collectors page in Storage Insights typically has a
    message indicating that the metadata is sent to Storage Insights
    at https://insights.ibm.com:443.  However, this is not shown if
    you have a down-level data collector.  The message is replaced
    by a different down-level data collector message until the
    down-level data collector is upgraded.  The endpoint information
    should be available in both situations.  The down-level data
    collector message links to the IBM Documentation for data
    collector upgrade issues, but that does not contain this level
    of detail.
