APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Connection to the queue manager using the IBM MQ Explorer failed
    and
the dmpmqcfg command was unresponsive, returning "MQSC timed out
waiting for a response from the command server to queue ''."

The command server ended and the error "AMQ8506S:
Command server MQGET failed with reason code 2033" was found
in the queue manager error log. There were unprocessed messages
    on the SYSTEM.ADMIN.COMMAND.QUEUE queue.

An FDC with probe identifier RM680010 was also seen.

Local fix

  • Start the command server by issuing the strmqcsv command:

    strmqcsv QueueManagerName

    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
The IBM MQ Command Server process amqpcsea ended unexpectedly.
This caused applications which rely on the Command Server, such
as the IBM MQ Explorer or the dmpmqcfg command, to stop working.

There was insufficient problem documentation to determine root
    cause.

Problem conclusion

  • Root cause could not be established, and so extra diagnostics
have been added to IBM MQ to assist with analysis of the problem
should it occur again. As well as the diagnostic change, code
was added to attempt to recover from the issue.

The code change exposes three new FDC probe identifiers:
PC235002/PC235003/PC235004. If FDCs are generated containing
any of these probe identifiers then please raise a problem
    ticket with IBM Support.
