Problem conclusion
This problem has been fixed by upgrading OADP to a newer version (0.5.1+) which in turn deploys Velero in version 1.7.1 or higher which provides the actual fix for his issue. On plain Kubernetes environments, as Velero is a pre-requisite, a Velero version >=1.7.1 can be installed by the user to resolve the issue.
