APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • .NET code running inside an integration server can be
dynamically updated by replacing the DLL assemblies on disk.
This process is called a "hot swap deploy" and is enabled by
default. An abend may occur when performing a hot swap deploy if
the .NET code being redeployed is accessed from a message flow,
e.g. in a .NET compute node or in an ESQL procedure call. This
is due to improper locking of message flows during the hot swap.

It is strongly recommended to disable hotswapping in production
    environments.

Local fix

  • Use an DotNetAppDomain configurable service or policy to disable
hot swapping via the AllowHotSwapDeploy attribute.
Alternatively, stop all message flows conusming the .NET
    assemblies before performing the hotswap.

    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
.NET code running inside an integration server can be
dynamically updated by replacing the DLL assemblies on disk.

Problem conclusion

  • All message flows will now be locked and stop processing
messages during a hotswap deploy. Message processing will resume
once the hotswap has been completed.

Hotswapping should not be left enabled in a production
    environment.
