IT38443: ANS4174E RC 6580 LOGGED FOR A VM THAT SHOULD NOT BE BACKED UP

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When a VM is assigned to an IBM Spectrum Protect for Virtual
  Environments - Data Protection for VMware datamover using
  tagging, and the VM has an incorrect state for a backup to start
  (e.g. SRM placeholders, snapshot disabled, ...), it is expected
  that the datamover assigned to the VM will report a failure.
  
  However in this scenario all datamovers will report a failure
  for the VM where domain.vmfull matches the failed VM,
  irrespective their being assigned to the VM by tagging or not.
  
  
  The error seen on all datamovers is:
  ANS4174E Full VM backup of VMware Virtual Machine 'VM name'
  failed with RC=6580 mode=Incremental Forever - Incremental,
  target node name='DC node name', data mover node name='DM node
