APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Unsupported versions of vSphere or ESXi may cause backups to
    fail with evddk-1 error in the Job Log:
    ERROR,XXXXXXXXXXXXX,DAY DATE MONTH YEAR HH:MM:SS
    TIMEZONE,2,CTGGA2649,Backup of virtual machine (VM) <FQDN> has
    failed. Error: Unknown error (evddk-1)
    
    If the above message is seen, the vSphere and ESXi versions in
    the environment should be checked against the supported level
    documented in the 'Hypervisor and cloud instance requirements'
    subsection of the 'System Requirements' section of the installed
    IBM Spectrum Protect Plus product documentation.

    Alternatively, ESXi version information information can be found
    by searching for 'esxVersion' in the <VM_NAME>.json file in this
    section of the job log bundle:
    vadp -> <VADP_NAME> -> vmdkbackupproxy -> <JOB_NUMBER> ->
    <VM_NAME>.json
    
    Example:

Local fix

  • Upgrade vSphere or ESXi to a supported level as documented in
    the System Requirements section of the installed IBM Spectrum
    Protect Plus product documentation.

Problem conclusion
