IT38020: SQL AND EXCHANGE BACKUPS HANG WHEN ATTEMPTING TO CONNECT TO THE APPLICATION SERVER.

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • IBM Spectrum Protect Plus database backups can completely hang
    and stop outputting messages in the Job Log.
    There is no error or warning as seen in the following example of
    SQL backup job log :

    This will happen when a winrm request from the SPP server to a
    SQL and Exchange server is hanging.

Problem conclusion

  • Added time out for the rescan command so that backup job will
    not wait indefinitely if the rescan is hanging.
