IT37946: ORACLE DATABASE BACKUP FAILURE DUE TO TIME OUT 300 SEC

Error description

• Oracle database backup failed on IBM  Spectrum Protect Plus with
  following error found in job log:
  
  
  CTGGA4093,[dbname] Timed out (300 seconds).
  
  Waiting for sudo -n -u 'oracle'
  /u01/PROD/db/tech_st/11.2.0.4/bin/sqlplus -S
  
  /nolog @/tmp/25152b8e-3fed-4104-813c-aa6dec90859e/runner-input
  -MainThread.sql
  
  command to complete.
  
  
  The default time out value is 5 minutes, ( 300 seconds ). Need
  to increase
  
  the time out here in order to allow the command finishes
  
  IBM Spectrum Protect Versions Affected: 10.1.x
  Additional Keywords: SPPLUS, TS005531637, Oracle database. Timed
  out
  

Local fix

• The timeout can be increased through the following option in
  /etc/guestapps.conf
  
  on the Oracle server, create this file if it doesn't exist.
  
  [oracle]
  catalogLevel0Timeout=<timeout in seconds>

Problem conclusion

• The default timeout for running rman commands was not enough in
  this environment. Provided an option for changing this default
  timeout value. After applying the fix the timeout can be changed
  if the environment requires a longer time for running commands.
