IT37806: CANCELLING BACKUP OR RESTORE OF SPECTRUM SCALE OR CEPH FILE SYSTEM PVC LEAVES RESTIC REPOSITORY LOCKED

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Cancelling copy backup or restore from copy backup of Scale PVC
  or Ceph file system PVC leaves restic repository locked for 30
  minutes or more. Trace log for the next backup or restore
  operation contains the following error:
  
  restic check -r /root/vsnap/ --password-file
  /tmp/resticPasswordFile
  stderr: unable to create lock in backend: repository is already
  locked by PID 53 on
  backup-1620778356134-pvc-scale-ns01-scale-ns01-pvc000-1m-ot2hm4
  by root (UID 0, GID 0)
  lock was created at 2021-05-12 00:28:10 (10m50.733931199s ago)
  storage ID 7acbee10 the unlock command can be used to remove
  stale locks
  
  To recover from this error, restic repository is deleted and
  re-built which significantly degrades performance of backup or
  restore operation.
